Mark My Miles ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Our core principle is simple: your data belongs to you and stays under your control. We designed Mark My Miles with privacy at its foundation. All data is stored locally on your device, and if you choose to enable Google Drive sync, your data is saved directly to your own Google Drive account — Mark My Miles never has access to it.

Information We Collect

Location Data

Mark My Miles uses your device's location services to automatically detect and record trips. This location data is processed and stored entirely on your device. We do not transmit, collect, or have access to your location data on our servers.

Receipt Data

When you use the receipt scanner feature, images and extracted data are processed on your device. We do not upload or store your receipt images or data on any external server.

Usage Analytics

We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (such as app launches and feature usage) to improve the app experience. This data cannot be used to identify you personally and contains no location or trip information.

How We Use Your Information

Since your trip and receipt data remain on your device, we use information only for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the mileage tracking service
  • To generate tax-ready reports on your device
  • To improve app performance and reliability through anonymous analytics
  • To process in-app purchases through Apple's App Store

Google Drive Sync (Optional)

Mark My Miles offers an optional feature to sync your data — including trips, categories, receipts, and receipt images — to your own Google Drive account. This feature is entirely opt-in and requires you to sign in with your Google account and grant permission.

When you enable Google Drive sync:

  • Your data is transferred directly from your device to your personal Google Drive account.
  • Mark My Miles does not have access to your Google Drive or the synced data. We cannot read, view, or retrieve any data stored in your Google Drive.
  • The sync operates as a direct connection between your device and Google's servers. No data passes through or is stored on Mark My Miles servers.
  • You can revoke Google Drive access at any time through your device settings or your Google account permissions.
  • Your synced data in Google Drive is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage and Security

All personal data, including trip history, locations, routes, and receipt images, is stored locally on your device. If you enable Google Drive sync, a copy of your data is also stored in your own Google Drive account — Mark My Miles has no access to this copy. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. Your data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including encryption.

Third-Party Services

Mark My Miles may use the following third-party services:

  • Apple App Store: For processing purchases and subscriptions. Apple's privacy policy governs the data they collect during transactions.
  • Apple Maps / Location Services: For trip detection and route display. Location data is processed according to Apple's privacy policy.
  • Google Drive: If you enable the optional sync feature, your data is stored directly in your own Google Drive account. Mark My Miles does not access, collect, or store any data from your Google Drive. Google's privacy policy governs the data stored in your Google Drive.

No Account Required

Mark My Miles does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the app.

Data Export and Deletion

You can export your trip data at any time as PDF or CSV files. Since all data is stored on your device, deleting the app will permanently remove all local data. If you have enabled Google Drive sync, a copy of your data will remain in your Google Drive account, which you can manage or delete directly from Google Drive at any time.

Children's Privacy

Mark My Miles is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
